Lodge Profile

Who:

The Old Wrekinian Lodge No 5481 was consecrated on the 29th June 1934 at Wrekin College and will celebrate ninety years in existence in 2024.

Although most of the members at one time attended Wrekin College, membership is not restricted by such attendance. We also have members who are drawn from school staff, from parents, from friends of members and others who just live locally.

We are a friendly lodge made up of Old Wrekinians, parents, colleagues, and friends. The brethren come from all parts of the country and enjoy the companionship of meeting four times a year when members are able to remember and reminisce about their days at the school and of the masters who taught them.

The profile of the current lodge membership covers a wide spectrum of occupations, including business owners, engineers, accountants, solicitors, teachers, judges, trainers - and diverse other occupations, from which many are retired. With many different backgrounds and many interests, our current and past membership includes many very senior Freemasons, including present and past Deputy Provincial Grand Masters.

What:

As a lodge we strive to improve ourselves spiritually and mentally; as parents, as friends of the community and as actively contributing to local charities. Our evening meetings begin with a ceremony or educational presentation and is followed by a meal which we call a Festive Board. We offer support to new Brethren through our Mentoring system.

Where:

We meet at the recently refurbished and extended Masonic Hall, close to the School, on Constitution Hill, Wellington, which we share with various other craft lodges and other orders of Freemasonry.

At present we hold our Festive Board, after meetings, at the Masonic Hall. At this there are some formal elements, but the main object is to enjoy a pleasant meal in convivial company, where we are able to catch up with friends, old and new, meet visitors from other Lodges and where we are able to strengthen bonds of friendship.

When:

The Lodge meets regularly four times a year on specific Fridays, in March, June, September and November.

Why:

We are a happy, welcoming lodge, motivated to help and support every member and enable them to gain the most from their Freemasonry.
