Masonic Fishing Charity (M.F.C.)

The Shropshire Branch of the Masonic Fishing Charity (M.F.C.) held this event at Ellerdine Lakes, Telford. An enjoyable day’s fishing under blue skies was attended by thirty disadvantaged children from five different locations in the Shropshire area.

Children arrived at 10.00 a.m. and were introduced to their casters for the day. After a busy morning’s fishing, lunch was served to 70 people including children, helpers, carers and casters, with everybody getting back to the water at 1.30 p.m.. Fishing finished at 3.00 p.m. and certificates and medals were presented to every child. Every child took home a fish, the biggest catch of the day being 14 lbs in weight.

The charity is going from strength to strength in Shropshire with more children wanting to return to future events and other organisations hoping to take part.

With a lot of help from Shropshire lodges and local Freemasons the situation looks good for the future of the charity. We have more events planned and if anyone would like to get involved please contact Peter or Petrina Robinson.
