Masonic Fishing Charity

The Shropshire Branch of the Masonic Trout and Salmon fishing Charity (MTSFC) held its’ third and last event for 2013 at Ellerdine lakes, Telford on the 18th September. The event was held under blue skies and attended by thirty disadvantaged children from five different locations in the Shropshire area.

Children arrived at 10.00am and where introduced to their castors for the day. After a busy morning fishing, lunch was served to 70 people including children, helpers, carers and castors, with everybody getting back to the water at 1.30pm. Fishing finished at 3.00pm and certificates and medals were presented to every child. Every child took home a fish, the biggest catch of the day being 14lbs in weight.

The charity is going from strength to strength in Shropshire with more children wanting to return to future events and other organisations hoping to take part this year. We are hoping to involve Combat Stress at our first event in 2014.

With a lot of help from Shropshire lodges and local freemasons the situation looks good for the future of the charity. We have three events planned for 2014 and if anyone would like to get involved with the charity please contact Peter or Petrina Robinson on 01948780218.
