Chartered in 1843, Salopian Chapter 262 holds the distinction of being the oldest extant Royal Arch Chapter in the Province of Shropshire. Our Chapter proudly accepts Master Masons of good standing from all Craft lodges, though a significant number of our members hail from Salopian Lodge 262, Salopian Lodge of Charity 117 and Sabrina Lodge 4158.
Our meetings are held in the Freemasons’ Hall at Crewe Street, Shrewsbury. We convene on the first Thursday of February, May, and November, with the February gathering being our important Installation meeting. Our convocations commence at 6 p.m. and typically conclude around 10 p.m., following the completion of the festive board.
As one of the oldest and most respected Chapters, we take great pride in the quality and execution of the Royal Arch ritual, which is profoundly meaningful and distinctly different in character from the Craft. The festive board that follows our meetings is a vibrant expression of fraternity and camaraderie, embodying the spirit of fellowship that defines all Masonry. It demonstrates our Chapter's dedication not only to the excellence of our rituals but also to fostering hearty fellowship.
Master Masons who join us will have the enriching opportunity to delve deeply into the teachings and traditions of the Royal Arch, while also broadening their masonic experience by meeting brethren from various lodges. We extend a warm welcome to all visitors and hope that their experience with the oldest Chapter in the Province will be memorable and rewarding.
