Lodge Profile

Forester Lodge is a Masonic Lodge in the Province of Shropshire, warranted by The United Grand Lodge of England. The Lodge was consecrated in 1952 and was originally formed in honour of Lord Forester (a Founding Member), who was Provincial Grand Master for the Province of Shropshire for quite a long period of time.

The Lodge meets at The Masonic Hall, Constitution Hill, Wellington, Telford, TF1 3AY. Regular Lodge meetings begin with the Annual Installation meeting which is held on the Friday evening before the fourth Saturday in November. Subsequent meetings are then held in January, February, March, April and October on the third Friday evening. The only exception will be if a March or April meeting coincides with Good Friday, in which case the meeting will be rescheduled to an alternative date. The start time is usually 6pm, but this may vary slightly depending on the content of each meeting.

The dress code is black dinner suit (dinner jacket and trousers), plain white shirt, black bow tie, plain black socks, black shoes and white gloves. A meal (Festive Board) after each Lodge meeting is held in the dining room at The Masonic Hall, which also has a bar.

The Lodge also meets socially; the main events usually include:

  • Christmas Sunday Lunch held during December.

  • Bingo/Chicken & Chips evening normally held in February or March.

  • Spring Sunday Lunch normally held in April.

  • Clay pigeon shooting.

  • 10 pin bowling.

  • Golf.

We also usually hold a Ladies Festival in November; this being organised for all the Ladies of the Lodge, along with anyone else who may wish to attend. Non-Masonic guests, friends and family are especially welcome at our social events. We make regular donations to local charities.

Forester Lodge’s membership comprises individuals from all backgrounds and age ranges, and is acknowledged to be, by many who visit us, a friendly Lodge.

We actively encourage members to attend all regular meetings of the Lodge and we support every member in his progress through the Offices of the Lodge. The Lodge has a strong nucleus of experienced members, with some more recent and younger members who are progressing in their understanding of Freemasonry, and who will secure the Lodge’s future.

We would welcome any man over 21, of good character, with a belief in a Supreme Being, to contact us. We will also welcome any existing Freemason looking to join a new Lodge. As with all Freemasonry, neither religion nor politics are discussed at meetings.

We seek as members those who can commit to a regular attendance at Lodge meetings and who wish to contribute to the life and work of the Lodge itself.
