The Vale of Uscon Lodge No 8935 is a Masonic Lodge which meets at The Masonic Hall, Wellington Telford TF1 3AY on the 1st Thursday of every month between October and May. The only exception is our January meeting which is on the 2nd Thursday as we don’t like to intrude on our member’s New Year celebrations.  The Vale of Uscon was formed in 1980.  Our name is derived from the time of the Roman invasion when a staging fort and settlement was established in the valley which is now Oakengates. This led in time led to a priory being built and the Lodge name is taken from the Vale of Uscon where the priory was set.

Masonry is all about making a good man better and in our small Lodge we take great pride in encouraging and supporting each other to achieve this. We know each other well and like any close group we encourage each other to succeed. Supporting our new members is one of the Lodge’s top priorities.

We operate a relaxed atmosphere in our Lodge, but one which displays the quality and dignity of the Masonic ritual that it delivers during its meetings.  The Vale of Uscon is one of the small number of Lodges in Shropshire who have a reputation for a slightly different ceremony than most in the area and our members take pride in working together and enjoying ourselves. We are often complimented by visitors on the high standards achieved and the happiness experienced in and out of the Lodge.

Some Lodges are formed for those who have a specific hobby or interest. That is not for us. Our membership consists of Masons from all walks of life with a diverse age range who all come together to enjoy our Freemasonry. We hold social events which are not just limited to our Lodge members but to which wives, partners, family and friends are encouraged to join in, so that everyone feels inclusive and part of our family group.

In line with one of the underlying Masonic themes, we support masonic and local non-masonic charities but always within the financial limits of individual members.

We would welcome any man aged 18 and over who would enjoy the company of other men willing to learn and understand what Masonry is all about which is in part a willingness to help others in time of need, not only in Masonry, but throughout individual communities in our local community, the whole country and indeed the world.  To help others as well as having a good time together.

If you would like to know more about our Lodge and its membership then please contact the Secretary via email at vale8935@outlook.com.
