Consecration of Shropshire Combined Services Chapter 9988

The Consecration of a new Chapter is a Ceremony still rarer than a Lodge Consecration - indeed, Shropshire’s fourteenth Chapter, which was ‘born’ on Saturday 18th January this year, is the first new Chapter in the Province since the Installed First Principals Chapter 6262 was constituted in 1988.

Linked by name, number and purpose with Shropshire Combined Services Lodge 9988, SCSC was Consecrated by MEGS Roger Pemberton, assisted by 2ndPrGP David Purslow and acting 3rdPrGP Stephen Rogers (shown below). The Installation then followed, with EComp David Hedley as first MEZ of the Chapter, EComp Steve West-Wynn as H. and EComp Philip Addicott as J. (also pictured below). David Hedley has been one of the main driving forces behind the new Chapter, as has DepGSupt EComp David Kettle.

As well as these Officers, EComp Allan Tipton is also shown. Allan was taken aback to become the first recipient of the Dave Percy Award for services to the Provincial Grand Chapter of Shropshire. EComp Dave Percy passed away recently while holding Office as Pr3rdGP, and most of those present appreciated the significance of attaching this presentation to the Consecration. EComp Tipton was, of course, heartily congratulated by all present after the presentation, made movingly by the MEGS.

We all wish the new Chapter every success - the SCS Lodge already has a reputation for hospitality and inter-Services banter, and we are sure that the Chapter will be no different!
