Next year's Provincial Wardens
The November meeting of Shropshire Installed Masters Lodge 6262 is the traditional occasion for the announcement of the Provincial Wardens-to-be - well before (we note) the present Wardens reach the end of their tenure!
The Provincial Grand Master was pleased to announce that the PrSGW from April 2025 will be Christopher Lucan-Pratt of Old Ellesmerian Lodge 5368, while the new PrJGW will be Greg Saunders of Salopian Lodge 262. Congratulations to them both!
Greg had already been busy at this very meeting, where he was the speaker. His Dewi Michael Parry award-winning paper on “Shrewsbury’s other Masonic Monument” was well received, telling the story of William Clement, a surgeon well known in the early 19th century for his liberal views, but also for his benevolence and community spirit. He has even been described as the “grandfather of the N.H.S.” by no less a commentator than Aneurin Bevan.
As Worshipful Master the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Jeremy Lund pointed out, it goes to show how the principles of Service and Community Mindedness are anything but new in Freemasonry!
