Presentation to the Shrewsbury Food Hub
The Shrewsbury Food Hub has (since the pandemic) been taking surplus food from supermarkets and other outlets to around 70 different places around the county town, often using “Ronnie” the van, donated by Salopian Lodge of Charity no. 117. Recently a presentation of £10,000 has been made towards the excellent work the Hub does, and we hope that with match funding from London and donations from several other lodges in Shropshire, Freemasons in Shropshire will have funded a great deal of the good work being done - perhaps as much as £36k.
The vegetables in the picture (sorry, chaps) mark the winter-time initiative to be launched by the Hub just before Christmas - spare veg is to be turned by volunteers into nutritious and warming soup for those in need. Pictured here are Dave Kettle and Allen Cadman (representing the SMCA) with volunteers from the Shrewsbury depot.
