This November, Freemasonry has, as usual, remembered the Fallen at our Remembrance parades and services up and down the Province. In a new departure, several Brethren have stepped in to assist the sadly dwindling number of veterans who each year support the Royal British Legion by selling poppies.
The Provincial Grand Master has a message for all:
I would like to thank all those who assisted the Royal British Legion this month with their fundraising through the exchange of poppies for donations. A special thanks to David Hedley for organising teams of volunteers around the Province.
I would also like to thank all those who attended Remembrance ceremonies across the County and those who participated in arranging them.
Thank you to the team at Crewe Street for once again organising a special Remembrance Day service led by Martin Davies-Friend and to Parade Marshall Maelor Owen who organised with great skill and patience the parade in Shrewsbury and the wreath laying ceremony at the Quarry cenotaph. There must have been a thousand present in and around the park.
I have asked Dave Hedley to organise an event to witness the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant sometime in the Spring of 2022. Perhaps it could be arranged for a meeting of the Combined Services Lodge. We will wait and see.
Brethren, it was a beautiful day on Sunday; whatever you were doing on the day I hope you enjoyed the fine weather.
With best wishes
Roger
Provincial Grand Master
