Visit of Deputy Grand Master to The Iron Bridge Lodge
Crewe Street was the venue for a full and very happy Installation meeting of The Iron Bridge Lodge at the start of December. We were graced by the presence of the Deputy Grand Master, Sir David Hugh Wootton who has given his strong support to the Universities’ scheme (of which the lodge is a part) as well as the scheme’s Chairman James Hilditch, Provincial Grand Master of Oxfordshire.
Two other ‘faces’ with strong attachments to the initiative to promote Freemasonry among university-age men were also in evidence - Tony Harvey, author and educator, and Dr Andy Green, who is in fact a member of the lodge.
Such was the ‘draw’ of this fine array of senior Masons that older visitors (mostly well past university age!) outnumbered the youngsters on the day, but The Iron Bridge Lodge continues to set a lively pace in Shropshire Freemasonry.
The visitors witnessed Andy Delamere (founding Master of the lodge) doing much of the work of Installation (and the Address to the Brethren as PrJGW), having been in the Chair when the evening’s new Worshipful Master was Initiated! Andy is also responsible for many of the photographs below!!
