Lodge Profile
The Brownlow Lodge No 2131 was founded in 1886 and meets and dines at the Town Hall in Ellesmere. The lodge is named after the first Lord Brownlow, whose family owned much of the predominately rural area. This connection is reflected in the Lodge logo which includes the family crest. Ellesmere is a small market town in north Shropshire and is centred within the Shropshire Union Canal system and the Shropshire “Lake District”, consisting of nine lakes known as Meres.
The Lodge meets seven times a year on the first Wednesday of each month between September and April except January.
The fifty or so Members are drawn from a variety of professions including the agricultural and hospitality sectors.
A new Master is installed each year in October. The Lodge has its own traditions and the ritual for the Installation is one of them reflecting the friendly approach of its members.
An emphasis is placed on supporting local charities and community organisations with donations and help.
