Lodge Profile
“6262” is the Shropshire Installed Masters’ Lodge, and thereby the largest lodge in Shropshire by some distance, having well over 170 members. The special nature of this lodge means that, although it welcomes Master Masons from everywhere to attend its meetings, 6262’s membership is drawn from those who have been through the Chair of King Solomon, and are members of a Shropshire lodge, or who have an affiliation or some other connection with the Province of Shropshire.
The lodge meets three times a year, on the first Saturday in April (this is the Installation meeting), November and February. As with other Installed Masters’ lodges, it does not work the traditional ceremonies other than to Open and Close: the business of 6262 is most often to receive a lecture or similar presentation. Over the years many eminent speakers have been heard at 6262, and while this is rarely if ever recommended as a first Lodge, it has often been described as the “beating heart of Shropshire Freemasonry”, and is proud of its place at the centre of Masonic life in the Province.
Visitors from other Provinces or further afield who are struggling to obtain an invitation should contact the Provincial Office.
