Carol Service a blast!!
There can’t often have been a sound as magnificent in celebration of Christmas in the Province of Shropshire! Three hundred Masons, partners, family and friends gathered to enjoy the annual Carol Service in Shrewsbury Abbey, The Shropshire Brass Group conducted by Stephen Pritchard-Jones and the newly restored Hill organ played by Deputy Provincial Grand Master Jeremy Lund provided a glorious sound which supported the enthusiastic singing of a variety of traditional carols, and there were also six readings which told the Christmas story.
Readers included a young Freemason and a lady Freemason; the Provincial Grand Chaplain Brian Thomas called us all to be mindful of the needs of those less fortunate than ourselves; and prayers were said which included thanks for the charities with which Shropshire Freemasons have joined in the last 18 months. After the final Blessing was given by Dr Tom Adkin, Vicar of Shrewsbury Abbey, refreshments were provided in a COVID safe way by members of Salopian Lodge of Charity 117 and their partners.
