Old Salopian Lodge no. 4790 is not strictly a Shropshire lodge, although it holds a meeting at Shrewsbury School annually. As such it is an ‘associated’ lodge (like the Wrekin Lodge 2883), under the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London, but with close fraternal ties to Shropshire. Its London meetings are normally held at the Civil Service Club in Great Scotland Yard.
As the name suggests, the lodge was founded in 1925 for Old Salopians, one of a sizeable number of ‘school lodges’ up and down the United Kingdom, and welcomes former members of Shrewsbury School to enjoy further the fraternity engendered in their schooldays.
